A vast city of domes and towers built across the shell of the living Carrier Tethys

Field notes · First arrival

One Carrier. One city. Seven ways to keep it alive.

Tethys is a living, moving world with a city constructed across her shell. Every district has its own work, rhythm, and responsibility—and none stands alone.

WHITE RAILcitywide service · overseen by Celina

Station-wall guide

A shared line along the dorsal spine

The White Rail connects every major district. It belongs to the city as a whole: a transit line, a civic lifeline, and an emergency route.

Guide correction: the green stop is Labs and Observatory. Some archival artwork still carries an older label.

Celina White, the White Rail owner and operator, with white hair and purple eyes.

Scheduling, permissions, crews, route changes, and emergency priorities are her domain. The White Rail belongs to no single district.

    Notes from the moving city

Daily life is part of the infrastructure

Tethys is not only a system diagram. It is a place to work, learn, remember, eat, rest, and belong.

    Maintenance is civic care

A clean filter, clear walkway, sound bridge joint, and well-timed warning protect people and Carrier together.

    Beauty has a job

Gardens filter water and grow food. Bathhouses reclaim water. Market stalls fold clear of airflow and emergency routes.

    Learning to live together

The Listening Halls connect education, evidence, ethics, apprenticeship, and practical district responsibility.

    Places to be off duty

Tea, cafés, dance floors, supper rooms, arcades, quiet gardens, and loud rider bars make room for lives beyond work.

    Field note: companionship

    Dragonflies, beetles, and bonds

Mounted animals are living partners with preferences, limits, and the right to refuse.

    Open the named partnership note

Dragonflies have recognizable organic heads and bodies. Build is individual: some are admired for elegance, some for strength, and some bear the rounded evidence of too many affectionate snacks.

Apollo: Luminara is slim and elegant; Aurelion is his beetle.

Mizu: Nightwing is medium-built and unusually strong; Current is his beetle.

Landon: Basalt is broad-abdomened from generous snacks; Strata is his working beetle.

Solaris: Vibration is slim and elegant; Rosewalker is his beetle.

August: Drift is broad-abdomened from generous snacks; Wobble is his field-saddle beetle.

Devlin: Vector is medium-built and unusually strong; Ripcord is his rescue beetle.

Aerowin: Keystone is slim and elegant; Balance supports carriage work.

Nye: Pecan is sleek and recognizable by medical-team gear.

Kri: his dragonfly is slim and elegant; the companion name remains outside this preview until the registry conflict is resolved.

    Built on a living Carrier

Architecture adapts to movement without turning Tethys into a building.

    01

    Constructed, not carved

Ordinary buildings stand on the shell. They are not rooms inside living tissue.

    02

    Movement-aware

Routes, anchors, and maintenance account for the motion of the living Carrier beneath the city.

    03

    Shared margins

Edge Plates remain no-build zones used for safety, access, and observation.
